RETREAT and TRAINING for
TEACHERS and COACHES

Live, hands-on
TRAINING
in NYC

Friday, Saturday, Sunday
June 6, 7, 8

at JWS NYC

A NOTE
FROM Jen

Two years ago, I led a workshop for the National Alliance of Acting Teachers. During this session, I shared some of the exercises I've developed at JWS, along with my philosophy on why these exercises are effective and my tips for getting exceptional work from actors. The response was overwhelming—in fact, several attendees approached me afterward, asking if I offered teacher training at the studio. To be perfectly honest, this was something that had never even crossed my mind. Their interest stayed with me, and after a year of consideration, I decided to go for it.

In 2024, I hosted the first ever teaching training at JWS, and it was INCREDIBLE! Coaches, teachers, and directors joined us from all over the country. We dove deep into our teaching and coaching philosophies. We experimented with new techniques. We explored new exercises. We grew in ways we never even expected. It was an astonishing time.

So we are doing it again… but even better this year.

I hope to see you there.

The purpose of this live, in-person, 3-day training is to empower coaches, teachers, directors, etc. —those who take on the responsibility of shaping artists’ futures—by equipping them with an array of new tools and techniques for their coaching toolbox.

This training is specifically designed for someone who:

  • Is already working with professional performing artists

OR

  • Is a professor in a training program or conservatory focused on guiding artists into the profession after graduation.

During the retreat, I’ll share many of the exercises I've created over the last 20 years at JWS. I’ll offer best practices on why, how, and when to apply them effectively and discuss strategies for drawing extraordinary work from the artists you coach. Additionally, I’ll guide you in creating your own exercises. The best part? We'll put these exercises and philosophies into action in real-time sessions with actual actors.

You’ll leave the 3 days with tons of fresh ideas to make progress with your clients/students, clarity about your own teaching philosophy, and lots of new colleagues. It will be a creative, intense, fulfilling, and challenging weekend — who could ask for anything more?

Space is extremely limited.
