Now Is the Time for Affirmations
Here’s the thing about positive affirmations. When everything is going right, you don’t really need them. When you are secure and certain, when you are in creative flow, when your level of self-confidence is high, repeating positive affirmations to yourself is redundant.
It is in moments of chaos, of uncertainty, of fear, that affirmations truly matter. It is when we are unsure of what to do or what to think that we can remind ourselves that mindset is a choice. We choose the view we adopt, and that view shapes the way we move through our world.
Our world is changing before our eyes. This moment in time is unprecedented. Right now, more than ever, we need positive affirmation.
15 months ago in a blog post, I shared the positive affirmations we use at the Studio:
I am a creative genius.
The world needs what I have to give.
I practice my craft everyday, and I’m ready.
I am an artist, therefore I choose faith over fear.
I love my voice.
I’d love to unpack them for you.
I am a creative genius.
Indeed you are. Everyone has the capacity for creativity, but you, the Artist, have honed your creativity into a world-class skill. Let’s be literal here. The dictionary defines creativity as “the ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations, etc.; originality, progressiveness, imagination.” You have this in spades.
The world needs what I have to give.
That’s right. We need you right now. We need you to use your creative genius. We need your ideas. We need your contributions. We need you to help us figure out how to live in this new normal. We need you to find your courage and call on your grit. We need you to show up with what only you can give.
I practice my craft everyday, and I’m ready.
You are ready. You know how to apply ingenuity to your work. You understand your skill set. You have trained your whole life for this moment. Call on your craft. Use your technique. Put your training to work, and step into possibility.
I am an artist, therefore I choose faith over fear.
Yes, it is scary to face the unknown. You do this every day. Faith is your choice. Faith is your practice. You feel the fear, and you do it anyway. Because that’s what it means to be an artist.
I love my voice.
You know your voice is powerful. You know your voice is unique. You know your voice can be used in infinite ways. Release yourself from the old way of thinking about what it means to use your voice. You, creative genius, will use your voice to build your new future.
When you are feeling insecure, afraid, or lost, I hope these affirmations will put you back on the path of possibility.
